Meditation On Self-Forgiveness

Forgiveness

Sit comfortably and relax. Recall the feelings associated with some mistake or mistakes you have made in the past. Connect with any feelings of hatred and revenge; connect with any feelings of guilt and how you felt you had let others and yourself down; the shame and the humiliation you may have felt…

Now ask yourself:
‘What good is it doing me or others by holding onto these feelings…?
What benefits does it bring me? How does it help me, or the other people affected…?’ (pause for 30 seconds).

Now, say the following to yourself inside your mind:
‘I decide that I have held onto these feelings long enough and it is time to let them go… This is a matter of reason as they no longer serve me, and a matter of my will at a deep level to release them… I feel all these negative feelings and let them go… I release them… let them go…’

Now, unconditionally, forgive yourself… you have made a mistake… you have learned from that mistake… there is nothing to be gained from having feelings of guilt or shame… let them go… forgive yourself… forgive everyone else who may have contributed… it is time to let it go…

Now focus on your true self – a divine being of spiritual energy situated at the center of the forehead… focus on your inner feelings of peace… Think of and feel your inner qualities of honesty, tolerance, kindness and generosity. Focus on them, as this is who you truly are… a peaceful, compassionate, forgiving being of spiritual light… radiating these qualities to the world…

Making Your Dream A Reality (Visualization)

I relax my body… I let go of all tensions… I reduce the speed of my thoughts…  I relax my mind, my thinking… I let go of what doesn’t let me be well…

What is it that I the soul truly long for? What do I want in my life?

I listen to the answer that arises from the inside of the self…  I let the answer come out spontaneously…  I don’t worry about it…

I visualize what I want and where I want to reach…  Now I fly; I fly towards the destiny that I dream of…  I visualize myself being what I want to be, doing what I want to do… Without fears, without strings that hold me…  I am who I want to be…  I see myself like that, having achieved it…  I enjoy some moments of this experience…  I experience my dream…

I can achieve my dream… I have to visualize it as if I had already achieved it…  This strengthens my capacity to achieve it…

Now I return to the present moment…  I prepare myself to enter into action with this conviction…  I will make my dream a reality…

Meditation

Imagine you are walking along a crowded platform in a train station.

You know that where you want to go to is the other end of the platform where your train is waiting. You don’t stop and talk to anyone on the way. If you did you would be delayed. You would fail to arrive at your train if you interacted with everyone on a platform that is continuously filled with new people. Meditation is exactly like this. Just as you cannot empty the platform of people just because you have a train to catch, you cannot just empty your mind of all thoughts just because you want to get to the destination (goal) or seat of your inner peace. Not at least until you are able to practise meditation correctly.

Remind yourself that you are not your thoughts, you are not your feelings, you are not your memories, you are not any of the voices in your head. You are the creator and they your creation, but they are not you. In fact they represent a platform of absolute strangers.

Meditation For Personality Transformation

At the heart of every human being or soul there is a spiritual energy, pure, of peace, love, truth and happiness without dependence. Being aware and experiencing this energy provides you with the inner strength necessary for change. Meditation is the method of access in order to allow that energy to come to the surface of your consciousness and in your mind in order to color your thoughts and feelings. In a way very similar to that of a volcano whose melted lava, hot, flows from the centre of the Earth to the surface, we, on meditating, can create volcanoes of power (which emerge in our conscious minds) required for personality transformation.

You can do an exercise, a meditation whereby you choose a habit or sanskar that you don’t want, and you will replace it with a characteristic that you would like to incorporate, like a thread, into the cloth of your personality. For example, replace impatience with patience.

Decide on a habit that you want to change e.g. impatience. We will focus this meditation on changing impatience. You can apply it to other habits also:

I relax and prepare to look inwards…
I am aware of the unwanted habit of becoming impatient…
As I sit in meditation, I relax my body.
I become the observer of my own thoughts and feelings…
Realizing my true identity as soul – a subtle point of light situated at the center of my forehead, just above my eyebrows, I remember my real nature is one of calmness, peace and power…
I focus on the power of peace, inviting it in and welcoming it into my thoughts and feelings from deep within…. enjoying the calm contentment which it brings…
On the screen of my mind, I begin to visualize patience…
I see myself in a situation where I normally become impatient…
I now see myself as being completely full with the virtue of patience…
I shape my feelings around the idea and image of patience…. unhurried and relaxed… calm and watchful…
If necessary, I can wait… forever…. with patience
I am free of the desire for certain outcomes…
I see how I respond with patience…
I see the effect of my patience in others within the situation…
I now know how I will speak with patience, walk with patience and act patiently in the real life situations…
I maintain this peace, which generates serenity and patience in me…

Meditation To Experience Being An Impartial Observer

Experience the following thoughts one after the other:

I sit in a relaxed position, letting all tensions dissolve… I relax my shoulders and neck and breathe deeply several times… Now I focus all my attention inside and observe what is happening in mind… I observe, and look carefully…

I see myself in different situations; I can identify the things that affect me most, the dependencies on things and people, the various circumstances in which I see myself involved… I observe how these external factors influence me and change my state of mind. I lack trust in some people, but with others I can express myself freely. There are many influences in my life… There are the influences of these external factors… I separate myself from them and observe my inner qualities; I begin to feel that peace, strength and love are part of my original self… They are so strong that they cannot be influenced by the changing external factors…

I create positive thoughts about myself… I am a being independent of external influences, and in my inner self there are many qualities. I feel them… I enjoy being myself in my original peaceful state…

The Two Close Companions Of Peace (Meditation)

Sit comfortably and relax… Remind yourself of your spiritual form as a soul – a point of subtle light (non-physical light), a sparkling star, situated between the two eyebrows… Now visualize your star-like form and emerge the feelings of peace looking at this form with your mind’s eye… experience stability and contentment in this inner value of peace, peace is your own treasure… Fully let go off all your concerns, tensions and worries and allow all of yourself to become deeply peaceful… Now, feel the vibrations (energy waves) of your peaceful light form radiating outwards into the world… Be aware that the vibration of your peaceful form is like a gift… Consciously transmit this gift of peace with the pure desire of calming and relieving the stress and peacelessness of others…

As you radiate the power of your peace into the world, you do so with great love… As you give the gift of peace, with love, you are aware that you are able to serve others, reach out to others, in this invisible but extremely significant way… This awareness brings about a new sense of meaning in your life and you experience deep feelings of happiness within your heart… It is a happiness which takes the form of bliss, a bliss or satisfaction experienced as an invisible fruit received in return of unconditional serving… You realize that your peace does not live alone… True peace is that which is shared with others… it always has with it its closest companions… an experience of love and a feeling of pure happiness…

Our basic spiritual characteristics of peace, love and happiness are values that can be compared to the primary colors of the soul. While the soul can experience these values, it is only when they are mixed together (to give different shades) that they emerge though our attitudes and behaviors as virtue. Virtuous thoughts, words and actions restore balance and harmony to our inner life and to our external relationships.

Meditation And Health

Each original quality of the self or soul is specially required for nourishing and empowering one human body system. The quality of peace is responsible for taking care of the respiratory system, joy for the gastrointestinal system, love for the circulatory system, bliss for the endocrine system, knowledge for the brain and nervous system, purity for the immune system and the five senses and power for the muscular and skeletal systems.

Each one of us has at least one body system, which is most prone to disease. When our mind is under the influence of stressful emotions, there is a decrease in the flow, from the soul to this body system, of that quality which is required by it for its nourishment, which leads to the development of disease in this system over a period of time e.g. when an individual with a weak respiratory system is in a negative state of mind, there is a decrease in the flow of the quality of peace to the respiratory system which in turn can lead to a disorder like asthma.
