Spiritual Vision

A simple definition of spiritual vision is that I see the best in others. A parameter of proving to myself that I have a spiritual vision and I am seeing the best in others is that I naturally thank and praise rather than criticize those with whom I interact at home or at the workplace on a daily basis – even though I may see obvious negative characteristics in them and experience negative behavior from them. Keep a daily chart of the three points, for three people close to you, below for one week. Every night, fill this chart up for the day that’s just gone by.

1. Name of person and relationship
2. How did I thank or praise him/her?
3. What was this person’s response?

Remember that although you may be constantly positive with others, constantly seeing their original spiritual qualities, it may take time for your positive energy to transform them and for them to start transmitting positive energy back to you and start behaving positively with you. At the end of the week, check what benefits did you and others experience from this exercise.

The True Self And The False Self

Meditation is an attempt to find the true self. It is this self which holds the identity of what I am, an identity which, when realized, gives fulfillment and direction to our life. This is what we call the consciousness of * I am, which emerges in meditation when there is concentration on the present and we focus on the now of * I am, rather than the past, or the future (* I was, or * I will be).

To remind us of this state, we use the word Om, which means ‘I am a soul’, the spiritual identity that acts as a key to human consciousness. As we find and realize the true self through meditation, we become aware of the false self and how deeply embedded it is in our lives, both in our way of thinking and being.

When we understand this illusory (false) self then we can begin the process of dissolving its negative effects on the original or true self.

The illusory (false) self is made up of desires that, even when fulfilled, fail to add value, or a sense of worth to the self. In fact, quite the opposite process happens.

Let us examine some of these illusions and how they give us a mistaken sense of value.

Illusion (False emotion): Ego
Thought: I know, I am
Result: Arrogance, inflexibility, controlling others

Illusion (False emotion): Anger
Thought: I expect
Result: Force, aggression

Illusion (False emotion): Attachment
Thought: I own, It’s mine
Result: Insecurity, possessiveness, jealousy

Illusion (False emotion): Greed
Thought: I want, I need
Result: Emptiness, wanting, dissatisfaction

Illusion (False emotion): Lust
Thought: I desire
Result: Exploitation, misuse, emotional dependence

These are the five fires that burn away the quality of human life: uncontrolled emotions that once, in their original pure state, gave happiness and peace to the individual but now create only emptiness and sorrow.

Awakening Your Intuition

In real life, we are faced with many situations when important decisions have to be taken, a particular path to move ahead has to chosen. At such times, our mind is filled with various different voices or influences like the influence of people surrounding us, who give their different opinions regarding the particular situation; they say something, our mental logic along with knowledge of people and things, says something else, then there is the influence or memory of our past experiences which colour our perception of the present situation differently. Also there is the influence of the outside world in general – all that we see, hear and read. There are also our attachments, selfish desires, fears, mental biases towards a particular person or situation, emotions like jealousy and hatred, beliefs etc. which influence our perception. Our mind is full of all these influences, many of them even conflicting each other, and we experience complete turmoil or indecisiveness inside ourselves, we don’t know what to do.

In such cases it is sometimes extremely wise to keep all these influences aside, sit in silence and listen to what our intuition is saying to us. There are many situations, in which after the situation is over, we realize that all the influences mentioned above would have taken us on the wrong path, but it was our intuition, our inner voice of wisdom, alone which gave us the right solution and took us safely to our destination.

Meditation purifies and sharpens our intellect which makes it broader and far-sighted and also makes it free from waste and negativity; very clean and clear, like a mirror. As a result the intellect is able to subconsciously look into the hidden aspects of any situation, sense the underlying thoughts, emotions and feelings of people involved without any of them being visible, also look into the future without it having evolved as yet and sense the right solution. Nothing can remain hidden from a mirror. Even though a mirror is not consciously aware, somehow or the other it will decide correctly. This is only the intuitive capability, the capability of becoming a ‘situation doctor’, hearing the mental pulse of the situation and coming up with the right cure for it, which is awakened by meditation immensely.  If the intellect contains negativity or waste and is not clear, sometimes one or more than one of the many influences which we had mentioned in yesterday’s message might be perceived to be the intuition and then we might fail in a particular situation. Its important to note that the intuition, if heard correctly, which is only the case when the intellect is clean, can never be wrong and will always take you in the right direction.

In the above context, for the completely analytical minded, it’s significant to understand that the intuitive perception was favoured more by old spiritual traditions and the intellectual perception, is being favoured more by modern science and medicine. Relying only on the intellectual perception is not wise. It alone cannot give us a complete idea of reality. A balance needs to be created between the two different types of perception. People with a balance will be more successful in life and victorious in difficult situations.

The Invitation of Jealousy

When the soul gets jealous of another persons success or happiness, it is frequently an invitation for them to step trough a doorway into life of new potential. Often times, jealousy is not about the other person, but there’s a quality I am seeing in them that I also have the capacity for. The soul is seeing some happiness, some success, some dedication, some discipline and recognizes that on some level it wants that, but hasn’t cultivated it. When we are jealous of someone, often we are seeing a reflection of our own potential.

Take a moment right now, to slow down your breath, breath nice and deeply, center yourself deep inside in the awareness of being spirit beyond form, beyond matter, deep and silent in a thoughtless space… allow your mind to clear and become quiet and calm. Having cleared your mind, we are going to do a small reflection. Think of someone that you have been jealous of in the past or that you are jealous of in the present.

What is the quality you see in them that you want. Is it authenticity, is it dedication, is it determination, is it creativity, freedom. What is the quality you see in them. And as you think about the potential that you envy in them, can you also see right now that you also have that potential and they are reminding you that potential wants to be awakened. Take time to just reflect on that.

When we are being truly ourselves and when we are being authentic, when we are expressing the gifts of the soul, we feel content, and we love being who we are and have no desire to be anyone else. That’s one of the signs that we are truly being our higher spiritual self in the world. If we are feeling jealousy it means there is a part of our potential that is not cultivated.

Allow yourself to contemplate. What can you do daily to cultivate that quality that they have. You don’t need a master plan. You don’t even need to know the big picture. You can only begin moment by moment, day by day to cultivate that within your self. What can you do beginning now….

Take a moment now to imagine that you already in that space of being fully blossomed. Imagine what your life would feel like with more adventure, imagine the joy of being the life that you’d feel, the inspiration. Imagine yourself taking more risks. Willing to be bad at something before you get good. Willing to let go of other peoples opinions. Spend more time in silent soul space. That nurtures heals and strengthens you.

What would your life feel like if you are fully expressing your potential. There are only so many moments and so many days of your precious life. Jealousy is an invitation to make the most of those days. The pass through a new doorway. To begin to feel more alive, to begin to express more of who you are. To let your gifts out in the world so that life becomes a dance, an adventure, rather then something you are just passing through.

Jealousy is a grand invitation. And it is up to you to respond.

Understanding And Expressing Your Potential

A free being is the one who recognizes their potential; they care for it, nourish it, use it and express it. It is an awakened being. It has stopped blaming, complaining and making excuses. It has taken on its full responsibility and has an attitude of gratitude at each moment. It is a relaxed being, but it does not get too comfortable in comfort zones or laziness. Out of peacefulness and spiritual strength, it rises above beliefs that limit their potential to grow and shine.

Its energy is full of love, courage and determination. It is a concentrated energy that governs their mind and emotions; it is not distracted by the unimportant, it does not lose sight of the important and does not allow itself to be trapped by anything or anybody. Therefore, their energy is fully centred and has great power. Not the false power that comes from stress, adrenaline, pride and ego, but rather the power that arises from a being whose conscience, decisions and actions are aligned. From a being that knows that nothing or nobody can prevent it from being free and express their full potential. A free mind is a mind without limits, open to everything and closed to nothing. It is a mind that clings on to nothing and, because of this, is relaxed with everything. A mind is closed because it gets stuck on something; it is blocked by fears or disturbed by worries. A person with a busy, closed and clinging mind will get disturbed, they will fluctuate, they will lose their emotional stability and they will be easily offended. This doesn’t happen to a person with a free, open and relaxed mind because they never lose sight of the true meaning of who they are.

A person with a free mind can use all of their creative capacity in order to live out their dreams.

To use one’s creative capacity fully means:

* Being aware of the power of the imagination and channeling it in a constructive way.
* Being able and to be open to discovering and to learning.
* Becoming aware and dissolving self-limiting beliefs.
* Being attracted by excellence, embracing the experiences of superior quality and letting go of the desires and experiences of lesser quality.
* Having good discrimination power thanks to which one has a good power of decision.
* Having the will power and discipline to apply decision.
* Having the courage to be different and to overcome obstacles.

Understanding What Is The Soul World (Incorporeal World)

3 worlds

Soul world is up above with red light

The Soul World, which is the sixth element, is filled with golden-red, divine light (experienced during meditation). Over there, the conscient (living entities), the souls, have neither bodies of matter nor bodies of light. There exists neither thought, word nor action; just complete stillness, silence and peace. Just as this world occupies a tiny part of this physical universe, so too the souls occupy just a tiny portion of this infinite world. This is the highest region, the original home of souls and the Supreme Soul, God. This is the region which human beings, irrespective of culture or religion, have tried to reach in thoughts, prayers, etc. It is caIled by various names in various religions – Heaven, Nirvana, Shantidham, Paramdham, Brahmand, etc. Before I came to this earth, I was there with all other souls, brothers. The experience of complete and utter peace, purity and silence is there in my sweet home. There the soul is untouched by matter. Souls reside there as star-like points of light. They remain dormant, with their roles in the physical world latent (hidden) within them. The roles emerge when they the souls appear on earth, the world stage.

The souls stay in the soul world in well-defined groups. They descend onto this earth in a certain chronological order, according to the quality of sanskaras. At the apex of this configuration of souls is the Supreme Soul, whom the other souls call God, Allah, Jehovah, etc. Beneath him the souls are positioned number wise according to their degree of similarity to the Supreme. Depending on the quality and the part the soul has to play, it emerges in the human world, taking the body of a developing baby in a mother’s womb. It then continues through the cycle of birth and rebirth according to the role that it has. When the parts are over, souls again return to this world of light, peace, liberation and complete purity. The deep rest the soul has had in the home has such an effect on it that even though it forgets the details about that world, there is always a desire to search for that peace and silence when it becomes lost and confused in the world of matter. In that supreme region only, souls remain in their completely original, natural state, which can be experienced through Rajyoga meditation.
